BITCHES SIN - The Rapture
Bitches Sin Records / Metal Nation
The NWoBHM Legends reformed in the mid 00s and released Uduvudu in 2008. This new album follows on nicely and takes the band to the verge of extreme metal. With support from the likes of Total Rock and Bruce Dickinson, the band have a solid fanbase and have a decent album here too.
Opener “Don’t Let Go” is blistering to say the least, plenty of shred. Then there is a surprise cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Sounds Of Silence” – which works remarkably well.
After that there’s some solid power metal that fluctuates between trad metal and extreme, and the keyboard effects work well in some of the tracks too.
Bolstered with the aid of guitarist / producer Chris Tsangarides there is blistering yet polished guitar oriented metal here. Pretty damn good.

August 2011 - The Rapture
Finally...art work complete, album has been mastered and the t-shirts design approved and all orders have been placed to bring The Rapture to our fans old and new around the world. It always seems to take Bitches Sin a couple of years to record and release a new album, but it has been an album worth waiting for. One early comment has arrived check out the rest of the info at www.johntuckeronline.com
THE RAPTURE APPROACHES: ‘This is not an album, it’s a statement of intent’ – that was my first thought on hearing Bitches Sin’s new offering ‘The Rapture’. From the doom-laden cover (‘an unkindness of ravens gathers… thousands upon thousands heralding The Rapture… the sifting of souls… and The Second Coming… those who believe shall be saved…’) to the intensity and strength of the album’s material – delivered with the honesty and integrity of a band with complete faith and belief in what they do – ‘The Rapture’ sets a new template for metal in the twenty-first century..... July 2011 - Mastered at Metropolis
Well The Rapture approaches still closer... An achievement of massive proportions by Andy Baldwin, who took a lot of time and trouble to get to the sound we expected to hear for The Rapture. And what a sound it is, truly the coming of Armageddon. Special thanks must also be given to Christopher and Ruth whose experience, expertise and integrity allowed them to 'challenge' what was being delivered at important moments during the session.

January to June 2011 - Sleeve notes, finance and design work
Word has spread of the approach of The Rapture with emails arriving from around the world with early enquiries. During this time we have been organising finances ahead of the formal release of the new album. More difficult has been deciding how the sleeve notes would be presented. There is probably only John Tucker, the well known music author, who would know enough background to deliver on our expectations. John agreed to write the sleeve notes and has done a brilliant job capturing the whole story of The Rapture and the band to date. As we did not progress any further with a couple of major labels we had to source the finance ourselves and as a consequence has delayed the release of The Rapture. But, all good things come to he who waits and next month, July, sees the mastering taking place at Metropolis Studios, London. The design work is progressing well so nearly there...
Thanks again to Ian Williamson and the guys at Classic Rock and Metal Hammer for the invites to Golden Gods. Chris Tsangarides and Mr Toomey went along to the show

December 2010 - The Rapture update
The Rapture is almost complete. We have mixed the album but need to decide on a running order although the opening track has kinda picked itself called 'Don't Let Go!' Its not an easy task this time, even the great Chris Tsangarides is undecided but we know that at some point it will be agreed. 'Listening Only' promo CD's have been requested by certain interested parties and will be delivered during early January 2011. This will be the first time in many years Bitches Sin will be talking to anyone outside the band about a formal release because as you know we tend to do things ourselves. However, 'trusted souls' have made the request so on this occasion we will be responding.
Finally for 2010 to all our fans and friends have a great Christmas and a safe, happy and prosperous 2011...The Rapture is coming

November 2010 - "I want you to want me!"
Another great night with our friends at Classic Rock but this time with a difference....the awards were held at The Roundhouse, Camden, London. There was a fabulous atmosphere and the drink flowed steadily. We enjoyed 3 brilliant live bands finishing with 'Cheap Trick'. Mr Toomey and Mr Schenker were caught in conversation and Michael deservedly won the Marshall '11' award. |
October 2010 - Bitches Sin rock out at the Heavy Metal Maniacs Festival
Bitches Sin arrived at Schiphol Amsterdam on Saturday 23rd October to play the HMM Festival in Hoorn, Holland. The band was met by Jeroen and Miriam who looked after us all very well before the gig. What a blast, playing a mixture of the classic and new classics to a brilliant audience who were well up for it. Major metal thanks go to Toine and Rita van Poorten and Stefan who invited us across to play. Also to Tokyo Blade who we partied with after the festival...see you soon guys!!! Check out the Bitches Sin classic 'Strangers On The Shore' live from the festival. |

The audience was heated up very well indeed for the British invasion by Bitches Sin. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. In 1982, the band were supposed to be playing at the Effenaar in Eindhoven on the Aardschokdag, after being chosen as ‘the most promising band of that year’, before bands like Exciter, Jaguar and Weapon. Twenty-eight long years later, we finally get what we have waited for so long. Hoorn gets a full hour of Bitches Sin to deal with. The band opens with "Always Ready" tonight and continue their attack with "Selling Paradise" taken off the album "Uduvudu", released in 2008. "No More Chances" is another highlight for the long term fans of the band. While "Mr. Toomey" is taken from the "Uduvudu" CD again. Guitarplayer Ian Toomey is the biggest eye-catcher in this song. Warning: don’t try to copy his solos at home in your own private study, because you will end up with a lot of frustrations. This man is so damn fast! Bass player ‘Macca’ is the new guy and he celebrates his twenty-first birthday today. What a way to celebrate your birthday party! "Overnight" is a golden oldie and the version of Simon & Garfunkel’s "Sound Of Silence" has gained a lot of power in the live version, especially at the end of the song. "Down The Road", "Invader", "Fallen Star" and especially "Ain’t Life A Bitch" are all classic headbangers to me. You listen to them with your mouth wide open. It’s a real treat for the fans, that want to hear all the old material of the band. "Strangers On The Shore" is one of the most well-known songs of Bitches Sin. It opens in a different way, but when Ian plays the well-known opening riff, the roof of the Manifesto gets lifted up for a second or two. After this, all that remains is a tribute to one of the most beautiful rock radio ladies from the eighties; Hanneke Kappen of the radio show Stampij, where Bitches Sin were guests once. Some people have tried to get Hanneke on the show tonight as a very special guest, but unfortunately they didn’t succeed. The song "Hanneke" remains a real classic to me and it ends with a short drum solo by Steve Turton. Now I know, why they call this man the ‘Stixslayer’. Obviously, John Bonham has been a big influence to this sympathetic woodchopper. "Ice Angels" is another highlight in the set of tonight. In this phenomenal version, the ‘ice angels’ personally visit you with a giant box of goosebumps, which gives you the shivers all over! Man, what a treat! "Strangers On The Shore" turns up for a second time as an encore for the Dutch fans. And so the full hour of Bitches Sin is over, before you’ll know it.

Merry ‘Metal’ Christmas to everyone!
December 2007 - We started 2007 with a project to record four ‘all new tracks’ for Bitches Sin. This was to be an EP release entitled ‘Mr Toomey’. Having recorded them with the legendary Chris Tsangarides we just had to complete an album. So when we returned home in April 2007 we wrote and rehearsed six more songs that culminated in the new Bitches Sin album ‘UDUVUDU’, completing the recording in September 2007.
We finish 2007 with only the final mix left to do which is due to commence 7th January 2008. We want to wish everyone all the best for Christmas and have a very heavy New Year.
UDUVUDU expected release date 21st March 2008.

August 2007 - 20 Essential Sins review
BITCHES SIN - 20 Essential Sins (Independent)
Looking for the Holy Grail? Just have a look what the cat dragged in. It's BITCHES SIN's Holy Grail, containing all their essential sins. The CD is based upon the "Your Place Or Mine" demos, which already has the length of a full-length album. And to me, those recordings belong to the most valuable material available in the NWOBHM scene ever. I am not talking about money here, but something that has a much more deeper value. A value, that money just can't buy.
The sound of BITCHES SIN made me feel good. The ultrafast axework made me forget everything around me. The slightly catchy chorusses invited me to sing along many times, no matter how off key my singing did sound.
Besides the demos, there are some 'special' songs added to this release, that make it a real treat to explore the work of this band. The Moor Green studio sessions give you an idea of how these songs sounded before they got on the "Predator" album. From that session, you can listen to "Ridin’ High", "Runaway", "Haneka" and "April Fool". "Aardschok" and "Loser" are left out for some reason. It shows the strength of BITCHES SIN: raw, unpolished and with a power that Tsjernobyl would be proud of. This is what they were supposed to sound like originally.
Okay, you might miss the guitar eruption, that you'd expect after the last tones of "Haneka", but that's the only remark I can place here. The vocals of Tony Tomkinson have a heavy blues feel during "April Fool", which lifts it easily to a much higher level. These recordings were discovered by surprise, and Ian Toomey only knew one way to celebrate this. Put them on a silver disc and make them available for all the fans. A great strategy, because he knew that he was releasing top-notch material here. Besides the Moor Green sessions, there is much more to enjoy as well. "Overnight" from the "No More Changes" EP is there, and "Abduhl’s Boogie" from Pete's "State Of The Art" demo, released in 1983. The last three songs are taken from the English version of the "Invaders" album. "Essential Sins" contains over seventy-five minutes of the finest NWOBHM available. Add to this the comeback of Sharalee on the front cover, and you must admit that you’re listening to the Holy Grail of NWOBHM. And what about my essential sin? I'd definitely go for BITCHES SIN. Check it out!!

March 2007 - 'Suzie Smiled...
The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal' book The book 'Suzie Smiled... The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal', which features Bitches Sin among numerous other NWOBHM acts,. Written by music journalist and Bitches Sin collaborator John Tucker, 'Suzie Smiled...' received a four (out of five) star review in Record Collector magazine, which described the book as "passionate, friendly and hard to put down." Reviewer Neil Daniels went on to say that "the author clearly has so much passion and interest for the movement that brought about the most magnificent explosion of bands in British (any nation’s?) rock and metal history, that it’s hard to keep count of all the bands he name checks. It’s obvious where his heart lies, however, with bands like Shiva, Tygers Of Pan Tang and Bitches Sin given justifiable credit and reverence, after they were treated so unfairly by the press back in the movement’s heyday." |
